Caheragh Memorial Park is dedicated to the memory of Professor Gerry O’Sullivan, a pioneer in the field of cancer research, and founder of Cork Cancer Research Centre and the national charity Breakthrough Cancer Research
Our Mission
We wish to continue the creation and maintenance of our themed gardens in keeping with our overall theme ‘Science Through Nature’.
Our inspiration for this Project is a unique opportunity to honour and acclaim the international eminence of Professor Gerry O’Sullivan.
We want to continue the development of the Memorial Park by extending accessibility, creating a safe environment for people of all ages and abilities.
To continue the creation and maintenance of our themed gardens in keeping with the overall theme ‘Science Through Nature’ and involving educational projects.
Recreational and outdoor dining facilities to be provided.
How We Got Started
We are a voluntary group based in and adjacent to the Caheragh area. Our common bond being we were all privileged to have know the late Professor Gerry O’Sullivan.
The Project
The proposed development project is intended to be a fitting memorial to the late Professor Gerry O’Sullivan and also a significant feature in the village of Caheragh
The Concept

The Launch
The Caheragh Memorial Park project was launched in the Travellers Rest, Caheragh.

2022
Official Opening
The Mayor of County Cork, Cllr. Gillian Coughlan, unveiled the Professor Gerry O’Sullivan memorial statue in the Professor Gerry O’Sullivan Memorial Park, Caheragh, 2pm on Sunday June 5th 2022 2pm,  National Cancer Survivors Day.
